Community Energy South at Shah Jahan Mosque

October 31, 2022

Community Energy South is a non-profit organisation which helps places to create projects around renewable energy generation and saving energy. The team is working in Surrey on a number of projects, one of which is with Surrey Faith Links (a project of Surrey Minority Ethnic Forum), the Surrey Muslim Association and the Shah Jahan Mosque in Woking.

Friends at the beautiful Shah Jahan Mosque hosted a visit to explore project opportunities. The leading project will be to help neighbours across the county in the draughtiest homes to resolve heat retention issues, talk with energy suppliers about billing and learn how to access grants. The Shah Jahan Mosque project group is applying for a two-year grant to employ new specialist advisors to provide this free support. The funding comes from fines energy companies have paid to Ofgem when they’ve breached rules. The project group will find out in December whether they have been successful in securing the funding.
