Clean Air Day – 16 June 2022

June 15, 2022

Clean Air Day is the UK’s largest air pollution campaign, bringing together communities, businesses, schools and the health sector.

Every year, air pollution causes up to 36,000 deaths in the UK.  The World Health Organisation and the UK Government recognise that air pollution is the largest environmental health risk we face today.

According to Global Action Plan, 82% of people think that air pollution should be a priority for the UK.

It is important to Woking Borough Council too. Find out more about our activities to help reduce air pollution such as promoting walking and cycling; increasing electric vehicle charging infrastructure; and incorporating green living walls in the urban area; to name just a few.

Why not find out more about Clean Air Day and how you can reduce your impact on outdoor air pollution?

Global Action Plan has developed a calculator to help work out your own contribution to air pollution in the UK. They also have lots of advice and tips on how you can reduce emissions and protect your health. Why not post your results to social media and encourage your friends to do the same.
